With the warmest, driest winter on record behind them, fire officials in Summit County are warning residents that a busy wildfire season is ahead, and preparation needs to start now. Firefighters at Summit Fire EMS are urging residents to assemble a "grab and go" bag stocked with essentials such as medications, important documents, photographs, a change of clothes, contact lenses, a first aid kit and non-perishable supplies like Gatorade. Firefighters also recommend keeping a prioritized list of items to grab posted near the front door, scanning important documents to a secure cloud, coordinating with friends or family for a place to stay, and notifying neighbors who can retrieve pets if residents cannot return home.
